Welcome to
Hetland Home Improvement

Home Improvement starts with honest guidance and ends with quality results.

Hetland Home Improvement has been serving Missoula, MT, since 2017. Backed by more than 15 years of hands-on construction experience, I built this business to provide my community with a highly skilled, dependable partner for their remodeling and repair needs.

I handle a wide scope of residential projects designed to add real, lasting value to your home or property. From comprehensive kitchen, bathroom, and basement remodels to building sturdy custom decks, installing high-performance doors and windows, and tackling essential repairs, I bring a practical, detail-oriented approach to every project.

What sets my work apart is a foundational understanding of how a structure should be built. I am fully certified in the International Residential Code (IRC), which means my focus goes far beyond cosmetic updates. Every project is executed with integrity, safety, and strict code compliance in mind. Whether we are opening up walls or starting from scratch, you are getting a builder who understands the mechanics of your home or property from the inside out.

As a locally owned, independent business, my clients are also my neighbors. My goal is simply to deliver exceptional, long-lasting craftsmanship that improves your home or property, backed by the technical expertise to execute it flawlessly.

Why Choose
Hetland Home Improvement

Code-Certified Craftsmanship

Backed by an IRC certification and a local reputation to uphold, I build with an attention to detail for lasting integrity and safety rather than just a quick fix.

Practical, Honest Advice

I listen to your specific goals and provide straightforward recommendations designed to improve how your home or property looks, feels, and actually functions.

Respect for Your Home

I minimize the stress of living through a project by actively protecting your home or property, maintaining a clean workspace daily, and hauling away all debris.

A Single Point of Accountability

You deal directly with the person quoting, managing, and executing your project, guaranteeing clear, consistent communication from start to finish.

HHI's Mission

Since 2017, my focus has been simple: do the kind of work I’d want in my own home. I combine fifteen years of experience with an IRC-certified approach to ensure every Missoula home or property is left better than I found it. It’s about moving past the “good enough” standard to create a space that looks great and feels comfortable, with the integrity to match (even in the corners you’ll likely never see).

HHI's Vision

I’m not interested in building an empire; I’m building a reputation as Missoula’s most straightforward, reliable contractor. My goal is to be the first person you call for honest advice and a finished result you’re actually excited to show off. I want every home or property I touch to be a more enjoyable place for everyone who lives there—your kids, your pets, and your sanity included.

The Standards
I Stand Behind

A successful project starts with more than just tools. These are the non-negotiables I bring to every home or property to ensure the job is done right.

Ethical Integrity

I take absolute ownership of the work done to your home or property, ensuring you get the results you expect, and I don't walk away until I would sign my name on it in full daylight.

Uncompromising Quality

I build to strict standards and refuse to cut corners, ensuring every update to your home or property is sound as it is visually appealing.

Direct Communication

I provide straightforward honesty regarding the budget, timeline, and realities of your home or property rather than relying on sales pitches.

Daily Respect

I actively minimize the disruption to your life by maintaining a clean workspace, packing out debris, and treating your home or property with professional care.

Practical Problem-Solving

When remodeling uncovers unexpected issues inside the walls of your home or property, I handle them with reliable solutions to keep your project on track.

Reliable Follow-Through

When I commit to a schedule, I show up on time and put in the work required to keep the project at your home or property moving steadily forward.

Meet Andrew

I’m Andrew Hetland, the owner and operator of Hetland Home Improvement here in Missoula. I’ve been in construction since my 18th birthday in 2011, when I started framing houses for $10 an hour—which, at the time, felt like I’d hit the lottery. Now I have over 15 years in the trades and since starting my own business in 2017, I’ve focused on taking the guesswork out of home projects by turning unclear ideas into a solid plan.

I’ve spent time in the Northwest Carpenters Union working on the big stuff—bridges, refineries, and even climbing cell towers over 300 feet in the air. While there was a sense of pride in watching those massive structures take shape, you don’t get much of a “thank you” from a water treatment plant. I moved back into residential work because I prefer the personal side of the job—seeing a homeowner actually smile when a project is finished and knowing the work made their daily life a little easier.

I’m a veteran of the Montana Army National Guard and have spent time as a wildland firefighter, volunteer structural firefighter and volunteer EMT, I guess you could say I’m a sucker for adrenaline and find an immense sense of pride in being called to help in times of need. In 2019, I was lucky enough to receive a scholarship from Mike Rowe’s foundation to study Construction Management, where I earned my certificates in international building and residential codes. This means that while I’m a “boots on the ground” builder, I also have the technical background to ensure every repair or remodel is safe, honest, and built correctly.

Aside from those few seasons fighting fire, tools and sawdust are pretty much all I’ve ever known. Whether you’re looking to build a new deck, remodel a room, or finally tackle those repairs that have been sitting on your list, I’m here to give you straightforward advice and craftsmanship you can trust. No fluff, no corporate sales pitches—just honest work I’d be happy to have in my own home.

Best Regards,

Andrew Hetland and Luna(my pup)
